diamondfans.com notes: Callison was a solid all around player for the Phillies throughout the 60s. He wasn't a very big man (at 5' 10''), but put up respectable power numbers, hitting over 20 homers for four straight years (1962-65), and driving in over 100 runs twice. Although he wasn't a great stolen base threat (never stealing more than 10 in a season) he had decent speed, and led the NL in triples twice. His career numbers (1757 hits, .264 BA, 226 HR, 840 RBI) are quite respectable for the era in which he played. He was a key member of the infamous 64 Phillies team that blew a 10 game lead down the stretch, and he never got a chance to play in the World Series. In addition to the Phillies, he played for the White Sox, Cubs, and Yankees. All-in-all, Callison was a fine player from one of baseball's greatest eras.
