Player notes: Ron Darling was a key pitcher
on the great Mets teams of the late 1980's. He was a
good fielding pitcher whose greatest weakness was giving
up too many walks. He pitched well for the Mets in the
dramatic 1986 World Series, appearing in three games
and posting a fine 1.53 ERA.
