diamondfans.com notes: Foster was an outstanding
outfielder for the Reds throughout the 70s, and a key
component of the "Big Red Machine", one of
the best teams of the postwar era. He led the NL in
home runs twice and in RBI three times. He had his career
year in 1977, setting personal bests in most major offensive
categories. In his final year (1986) he was baseball's
highest paid player. In his prime he was primarily a
left fielder, though he played some at all three outfield
positions during his career.
He was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame
on August 3, 2003.
