Player notes: O'Toole was a solid left-handed starter for the Reds in the early 1960s, and his stellar 19 win season in 1961 was a major factor in the Reds' winning of the NL pennant that year. He was matched against Whitey Ford in both his starts in the World Series that year, and he lost both games. He continued to be very effective for the next three seasons, but suffered a drop-off in 1965. His career ended prematurely at age 30 due to a shoulder injury. |
