Player notes: Known as the "Springfield Rifle" (after his birthplace in Springfield, MA), Raschi was a big game pitcher for the great Yankee teams of the late Forties and early Fifties. He compiled a .667 winning percentage (5th on the all time list). He beat the Red Sox on the final day of the 1949 season to break a first place tie with them, and won five World Series games for the Yanks (including the Series finales in 1949 and 1951). He won 21 games three years in a row, and 132 overall. A key member of one of the greatest teams of all time, Raschi has well-earned a place among baseball's legends.
