Player notes: Rixey was a durable and proficient starter for the Phillies and Reds whose career spanned three decades. He Won 20 or more games four times, and tallied a total of 266 wins, a total exceed by only two other National League left-handers (Warren Spahn and Steve Carlton). He never really played on great teams (only getting to the World Series once, early in his career in 1915 with the Phillies), but his longevity and ability to win games despite weak support earned him a place in the Hall of Fame.
